Wiedrich 10-29-26 Ron Miller gave us an update on the Hope Walk. $6000 was raised just from the members of Bluff Point Church. Thanks to all who contributed. Dick Smith gave us an invitation to the open house on Sunday, November 8 at 2pm for the newest habitat house in Yates County. It is on Bigelow Avenue in Dundee. Our lesson this past week was on the story of rendering to Caesar the things that were Caesars into God the things that were Gods. Cesar thought a lot of himself and had his image printed on coins. He was the ruler of the land. They paid taxes to the Romans for land that was taken from them. They could not carry grave images in, therefore, could not carry Caesars coin. This was certainly an interesting story taken from Matthew 22: 15-22. Thank you too Amy Van Dyke and Nancee Scott for delicious treats. The apple dumplings were particularly tasty. The kids enjoyed painting pumpkins during Sunday school after their Bible lesson. Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich 10-22-26 This past week we did our biannual road cleanup of our section on 54 – A. Thank you to the 16 people that helped out it was a beautiful fall day, and we finished in record time. This Sunday was the children’s Sabbath- they helped in aspects of the church service. Pastor Jeannine taught the children how to make the word peace in American sign language. She asked the children what peace meant to them. Many of them said- no fighting, no yelling, no hating others. God has his own hand in peace. Everything will be OK. God‘s peace is special and it’s there when things are noisy or not going our way. And no matter what is going on it stays in our hearts. As we live with God‘s peace, it’s important to share it with others. God takes all of our worries and gives us a wonderful sense of peace in return. The scripture lesson was Philippians 4: 1-9, read by Meridyn Whitford. Today we prayed over three prayer shawls to give to those facing illness or struggles. One of those was the prayer of Laura Hammond, given to a family member who is having current health concerns. Put on your calendar our hat and mitten tree will be up from November 1 to November 29. Bring mittens, scarves, and hats to put on the tree. We will be collecting for our Angel tree family from November 29 through December 13. More information will be forthcoming. See you in church on Sunday!

Thank you Marilyn for helping with communion! This past Sunday was World Communion Sunday. Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich 10-15-26 Jesus wants us to be nice to people even if they are mean to us. Pastor Jeannine told the kids to share and be good to one another. Hugs go a long way if you have a bad day. Show others the love that God shows us. Pastor Jeannine asked us if any of us have ever been rejected. We have a basic need for acceptance and belonging, from family, church and clubs. Let’s work harder at having people be included. We are in control. Continue to be positive and don’t live in the negative. Our scripture was Matthew 21: 33-46. Thank you Gene James for reading. Our landscape at church looks wonderful! Our condolences to Jeanette Simpson in the recent passing of her father after a long illness, and to Helen Schillinger in the death of her sister.

Nice to see Doug Fingar who is visiting us for a few weeks while he helps with grape harvest. Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich 10-08-26 Can you help us with road cleanup. We are doing it at 9 AM on Friday, October 9. Meet at church. We have a 2 mile route and usually get done in less than an hour. Thanks everybody. October 24 crossroads and Finger lakes district learning day is being held in Auburn from 9 to 2:30. Let Pastor Jeannine know if you wish to participate Pastor Jeannine asked the children if they like to do chores. Most of them not their head. She told the story of how John and William were asked to leave John initially said no if he was building a model plane but he decided to rake leaves for his dad anyway. William said he would rake leaves but he stayed and watch TV and didn’t do it. It’s better to say no and do it than to say yes and not do the chores. Our scripture was from Matthew 21 versus 23 to 32. Thank you, Alex for reading. It’s never too late to say yes to God. We are here to take care of God’s business in obey his well it may not always be smooth sailing. Obedience is difficult. We should forget about our comfort level and do God’s will! A sweet, thank you note from one of our children - many of our kids were able to go to camp this summer because of the generosity of Ernie Pineo, setting up a campership fund. Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich 10-01-26 Our scripture lesson this week was from Matthew 20: 1-16, read by Christy Smith. This is a common parable about workers in a vineyard. Some people were hired early to work in a Vineyard- some were brought in at noon and some the last hour. All got paid the same by the vineyard owner. The person called last was to go first. Some of the workers were very annoyed because they had worked in the hot sun all day where others had waited in the sun most of the day to be hired. The meaning of the lesson is that God doesn’t care if you are first or last. Pastor Jeannine discussed that God gives us grace. It does not matter when we come to the Lord we are given grace and mercy. Pastor Jeannine was the youngest of three children. She was 12 years younger than her two brothers. By that time, the family had more money to do things. She was the only girl, and she felt it sometimes that her brothers were sometimes jealous of her because the family did more after she was born. Sometimes people feel life is not fair. Pastor Jeannine did a little experiment with the children. She had them do a task one one girl started first and her brother started afterwards. She paid both of them 50 Cent for doing the chore and then ask them if they thought it was fair. The boy that started second, of course that it was indeed fair! There are many though that think people should get paid for time work and those that worked longer should be paid more. God doesn’t always look at it that way. Wiedrich 09-24-26 Marguerite Miller gave the children’s message this past week, telling them how she had gotten hit by a cornstalk while gardening. Her husband told her he was sorry. Forgiveness is tricky. You need to let anger go. We need to learn about Peter. We are told to forgive 70 x 7! Stacy Wyant game our recent message when Pastor Jeannine and Phil were vacationing. We remember Gettysburg. We remember Pearl Harbor. We remember 9-11. We won’t forget but we are told to forgive. Don’t hold on to hurts. We are set free by forgiveness. Marguerite is helping make quilts for Yates County Christmas. She is working with My Brothers Keeper ladies in Penn Yan and needs blankets and sheets for finishing. This past Sunday, we had blessing of the backpacks and the students going to school by Pastor Jeannine. Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich 09-17-26 Pastor Jeannine blessed the students and their backpacks is we are heading back to school. She reminded the children to talk to mom and dad when they were nervous to fight through the butterflies when they are scared, and also to remember that Jesus is always beside you. Pastor Jeannine spoke to us about working together in unity and spreading the good news. Discord is in a natural thing among people, especially between siblings. We do all go through difficult times but have to remember how we treat others is how we want to be treated. We also need to talk to others face-to-face when we have problems rather than texting or using the Internet. School is back in session. Watch for those kiddos walking and on their bikes. Come worship with us at 9am Sundays! We have nursery and Sunday School services.

Music Sunday was such a success! Thanks Ron and Marguerite Miller for working with the choirs! Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich 09-10-26 Pastor Jeannine asked us when we were in school how we felt about pop quizzes. Who do people say the son of man is? We gather together to have the spirit. We gather together to be a disciple of Christ. Pastor Jeannine asked us what a cross means. It’s a symbol that Jesus put himself out there so we don’t have to face life alone. Wearing a cross is a good reminder! Lots of wonderful hymns and songs from the kids and adult choirs for Music Sunday. We also passed the bucket for Hope Walk, as we do on all of our fifth-Sunday Music Sundays. On 9/21 a pass the dish picnic is being planned for all of those who have helped with Sunday School or nursery this past year. Should be fun! School is back in session. Watch for those kiddos walking and on their bikes. Come worship with us at 9am Sundays! We have nursery and Sunday School services.

Our Bluff Point crew were busy serving the Oak Hill barbeque this past weekend. Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich 09-03-26 Pastor Jeannine showed the kids a diagram of geese flying. The lead goose is the head of the pack. Is the geese fly in a V shape formation. When the goose gets tired, another takes over the lead role. Helping others is part of being a member of this church this church. At this church we all work together! Examples of this teamwork were this past weekend, when many of our church members worked together to serve Oak Hill’s Saturday barbecue. We set up, served, and cleaned up afterwards. Following this was the annual Yates County Hope Walk, led by Ron Miller. Many of us in church participated filling luminary bags with sand, helped with the silent auction, designing luminary bags and we also walked to support the effort. It feels good to be part of a team. Pastor Jeannine reminded us that we are all part of the body of Christ and that God loves us. We need to tell others of the love of Christ. Think of inviting others to come to church. Some of us are welcomers, some are supporters. We are all part of the body of Christ. We need to give our heart, mind, and well and obedient service as an offering to Christ. Pastor Jeannine and Phil are now moved into the Dresden parsonage. The open house is from 3 to 6 PM on Thursday, September 3. On Sunday, September 6 we will have blessings of the backpacks for the kids and for anyone involved in education. It’s important for us to send our teachers in our students back to school with love and support. Please join our little country church at 9 AM on Sundays!
